Support2Connect Privacy Policy

Effective date: 17 July 2026

Last updated: 17 July 2026

1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Support2Connect Android application (“Support2Connect”, “the app”, “we”, “us” or “our”) accesses, uses, stores and protects information.

Support2Connect is a free community-support directory designed to help people find services and essential facilities throughout South Australia.

Support2Connect does not require users to create an account to browse the directory.

2. Our privacy approach

Support2Connect is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising, and the current version of Support2Connect does not contain third-party advertising.

Most information created by a user inside the app is intended to remain on that user’s device.

3. Information accessed or handled by the app

3.1 Device location

Support2Connect may request access to the device’s location when a user chooses to:

Location access is optional. Users can deny or withdraw location permission through their Android device settings.

Support2Connect does not use location information for advertising and does not sell location information.

The app does not intentionally create a history of a user’s location. A user’s device, operating system, internet provider, online map provider or external directions application may independently process location or technical information under its own privacy terms.

3.2 Camera access for QR scanning

Support2Connect may request camera permission when a user chooses to scan a QR code.

Camera access is used only for the QR-scanning feature. Support2Connect does not use the camera in the background and does not intentionally store or upload camera images captured for QR scanning.

3.3 Information saved locally on the device

Depending on the features used, Support2Connect may store information locally on the user’s device, including:

This locally stored information is used to provide the feature requested by the user. It is not routinely transmitted to the Support2Connect developer.

Local information may be removed by deleting it within the app, clearing the app’s storage through Android settings, or uninstalling the app. Uninstalling the app may permanently remove locally stored information unless the user has separately backed it up.

3.4 Online map and internet requests

Support2Connect includes offline map functionality. Some optional features, including online satellite maps, external websites, directions, email links, telephone actions, language-resource downloads or updated online content, require an internet connection.

When an online feature is used, the relevant service provider may receive technical information needed to provide the request, such as:

Third-party services process this information under their own privacy policies.

3.5 Language and translation features

Support2Connect may download language resources required for on-device translation.

Where translation is processed on the device, the text being translated is not intentionally sent to the Support2Connect developer. The provider used to download language resources may receive normal technical request information.

3.6 Communications with Support2Connect

When a person emails Support2Connect, joins public or internal testing, submits a service suggestion, reports an issue, requests support, or otherwise contacts us, we may receive:

This information is used only to:

Tester contact details are not sold or used for unrelated marketing.

Where a tester has voluntarily consented to recognition, their name or nickname may be used only for Support2Connect testing recognition or credits. Recognition is optional and can be withdrawn by contacting us.

3.7 Service-directory information

Support2Connect contains information about organisations, services, facilities and publicly available contact details.

This information is collected from public sources, service providers, authorised submissions and verification processes. It is used to help users locate support and is not treated as information about the app user.

Service providers may contact us to request a correction, update or review.

4. How information is used

Information handled by Support2Connect is used only where reasonably necessary to:

5. Information sharing

Support2Connect does not sell personal information.

Information may be shared only in the following circumstances:

User-directed sharing

When a user chooses to share a service card, QR code, address, website, telephone number, email address or other information, the selected information is sent through the external application or service chosen by the user.

External services

Information required to complete a user-requested online action may be processed by an external provider, such as:

Support2Connect does not control the privacy practices of external services.

Legal and safety requirements

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal obligation, court order, lawful government request, or to protect a person from a serious and imminent threat where disclosure is permitted by law.

6. Data storage, security and retention

Locally created app information is generally stored on the user’s device and remains there until the user deletes it, clears the app’s storage or uninstalls the app.

Information sent directly to Support2Connect, such as emails, tester registrations, service submissions or support requests, is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, including reasonable record-keeping, security and legal requirements.

Reasonable steps are taken to protect information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Access, correction and deletion requests

A person may contact Support2Connect to:

Requests should be sent to:

Email: daniel@support2connect.com.au

We may need to confirm the requester’s identity before providing, changing or deleting information.

Information stored only on the user’s device must generally be deleted by the user within the app, through Android app-storage settings, or by uninstalling the app.

8. Permissions and user choices

Support2Connect requests permissions only when required for a feature.

Users may refuse or withdraw permissions through Android settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission, but the remainder of the app should continue to function where technically possible.

9. External links and third-party services

Support2Connect contains links and actions involving third-party organisations and services.

Support2Connect is not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy or availability of third-party websites, applications or services. Users should review the privacy policies of those third parties.

10. Children and young people

Support2Connect is a general community-support application and does not require an account to browse services.

We do not knowingly request unnecessary personal information from children. If a child or young person contacts us, their information will be used only to respond, provide requested assistance relating to the app, protect safety where required, and meet legal obligations.

A parent, guardian or the young person may contact us to request deletion where appropriate.

11. International processing

Some external technology providers used by the device, Google Play, online maps, language downloads, email or web services may process technical information outside Australia.

Support2Connect does not intentionally disclose locally stored notes, saved services, personal contacts or events to overseas recipients.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Support2Connect’s features, technology, legal obligations or information-handling practices change.

The latest version will display its effective date. Material changes will be made available through the app, the Support2Connect website or the Google Play listing where appropriate.
